What Dealers Should Know About DE→NL Rates Right Now

Published March 2026. Updated monthly.

If you import vehicles from Germany to the Netherlands, the Q1 2026 rate environment is favorable. Here is what is happening and what it means for your per car transport costs.

Current Rate Bands

These are the ranges we are seeing across our carrier network for Germany to Netherlands vehicle transport as of March 2026.

Origin RegionSingle CarFull Load (7 to 9)Trend
NRW (Cologne, Düsseldorf)€350–550€190–260↔ Stable
Bavaria (Munich, Nuremberg)€500–700€220–300↓ Minus 6%
BaWü (Stuttgart)€420–650€170–260↓ Minus 4%

Hamburg / North Germany€380–580€155–245↔ Stable

Why Rates From Southern Germany Are Lower This Quarter

Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg rates are down 4 to 6% compared to Q4 2025. More carriers are running south to north after delivering Italian and Austrian freight, creating excess northbound capacity. For Dutch dealers buying from Munich or Stuttgart auctions, this is the most favorable rate environment in over a year.

NRW rates remain stable because the Cologne to Netherlands corridor is short (250 to 350 km) and consistently high volume. Less pricing volatility on short corridors because fuel and driver costs make up a smaller share of the total.

What This Means for Dealers

Importing from Bavaria or BaWü? Lock in rates now. The backhaul surplus may not last past spring. Ask about a quarterly rate agreement to hold current pricing through Q2.

Importing from NRW? Rates are stable and competitive. The short distance keeps per car costs low already. Focus on consolidation: a full carrier load of 7 to 9 cars from NRW delivers for €150 to 240 per car, roughly one third of what your own driver costs.

Full Load vs Single Car

The biggest factor in your per car transport cost is load consolidation. A single car from Munich to Rotterdam costs €450 to 700 because the carrier still drives the same 800 km. Put 8 cars on the same carrier and the per car cost drops to €190 to 300. The carrier cost is roughly the same. You split it 8 ways instead of 1.

If you import fewer than 7 cars per batch, we consolidate your vehicles with other dealers heading the same direction. You get full load rates without needing a full load.

How to Compare Transport Quotes

When evaluating a vehicle transport quote, check whether it includes: transport door to door (not terminal to terminal), CMR insurance (ask for the carrier certificate), photo documentation at pickup and delivery (should be standard, not an add on), and whether there are fuel surcharges or platform fees on top of the quoted rate. If any of these is "extra" or "not included," the headline rate is not the real rate.
