UN number database: a road tanker and bulk chemical selection
A UN number database of thirty four substances selected for road tanker and bulk chemical movements, each with the five things a dispatcher needs before a route can be checked: class, packing group, hazard identification number and tunnel restriction code.

Why the tunnel code is in this table
Most UN number lists stop at class and packing group. Those two tell you how the substance behaves and how strongly it must be packed, but neither tells you whether the route you have planned is legal. The tunnel restriction code does, and it is the column that changes a delivery time.
Look at UN 1203 petrol and UN 1005 anhydrous ammonia. Different classes, different packing groups, and a route through the same tunnel can be open for one and closed for the other. That is why we return the tunnel code with every ADR quote rather than after it.
A word about the names
The UN number is the identifier, not the name. A substance keeps its number across every language and every document, which is why the number and not the name is what we ask for first.
The names in this table are marked per row in the dataset. Sixteen Dutch names are matched against the official Dutch table A that we hold; nine English names come from our own ADR 2027 table A dataset. The rest are common names, given so the row is readable, and flagged as common names rather than proper shipping names. If you need the proper shipping name for a document, take it from the ADR text, not from us.
Frequently asked
Is the UN number enough to quote a load?
It is enough to start. With the UN number we can return the class, the packing group, the hazard identification number and the tunnel code, which tells us what vehicle and what route. Quantity and packaging decide the rest.
Why do two substances in the same class have different tunnel codes?
Because the tunnel code reflects the consequence of a release in a confined space, not only the class. That is why the class alone never tells you whether a route is open.
Are these the official proper shipping names?
Only where the row says so. Sixteen Dutch names are matched against the official Dutch table A and nine English names come from our own table A dataset. The rest are common names and are marked as such.

Dutch names were matched against table A in the official Dutch text of ADR 2025 published by the Rijksoverheid, which we hold; sixteen of thirty four matched and the rest are marked as common names. Nine English names come from our own ADR 2027 table A dataset. Nothing here is presented as a proper shipping name unless the row says so.
