Dangerous Goods Software: 6 Compared for Road, Air and Sea (2026)
Dangerous goods software comes in three kinds: documentation tools that print declarations, validation tools built around one mode, and compliance modules inside an ERP. Mode coverage is decided module by module.
Each mode below is either named on the vendor's module page or marked not established. Two free reference sources are included and labelled as references, not software.

Key takeaways
Modes are bought by module DGOffice's Essential licence covers 1 to 2 of its five transport modules. (DGOffice licence plans)
ADR is not on every page DGIS Essentials names PHMSA, IATA, IMDG and AFMAN updates; ADR is not named. (Labelmaster DGIS Essentials)
Hazcheck starts at sea Hazcheck Validate checks ADR and 49 CFR as part of an intermodal journey with the IMDG Code. (Hazcheck Validate)
SAP's module needs S/4HANA SAP's product compliance requires an S/4HANA installation and a separate licence. (SAP product compliance)
Reference data is free BAM's search and data files have been free since 23 July 2025, under dl-de/by-2-0. (BAM Dangerous Goods Database)
Where to look first
Start from the task. A documentation tool prints the paperwork, a validation tool stops a wrong booking, an ERP module classifies products where your master data lives, and a reference source checks a fact.
| Your question | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Check ADR facts for one UN number or a 1,000 point load, free | Our free ADR reference tools (entry 1), then BAM DGG (entry 6) |
| Print road, sea and air declarations from one online system | DGOffice (entry 2), licensed per mode |
| Validate US ground, air and sea shipments | Labelmaster DGIS Essentials (entry 3) |
| Check container bookings against the IMDG Code | Hazcheck Validate (entry 4) |
| Classify products inside an S/4HANA system | SAP S/4HANA for product compliance (entry 5) |
| Load regulation data into your own system | BAM DGG data files (entry 6) |
How the six compare

1.Vektor's free ADR reference tools, for checking road facts before a system
We built a set of free reference tools for ADR road transport: a UN number database with class, packing group, hazard identification number and tunnel code, a 1,000 point calculator that shows the arithmetic, and an ADR 2027 Table A comparison searchable by UN number.
They are not a software suite: they print no transport document and hold none of your product data.

Use them to check a fact before you trust a system's output. The official ADR text governs over our pages.

2.DGOffice, for printing declarations across road, sea and air
DGOffice is online software from a Dutch developer in Lelystad, sold in modules by mode. Its own pages describe a road module based on ADR, 49 CFR, TDG and ADG, a sea module based on the IMDG Code and an air module based on ICAO TI and IATA DGR, plus RID and ADN modules.
The road module page says it prints the declaration and a driver's checklist as PDF, with the ADR declaration in 37 languages.
Its web services connect to an ERP, WMS or TMS, the page says, and a regulatory updates list valid from September 2026 is published.

3.Labelmaster DGIS Essentials, for US, air and sea shipping validation
DGIS Essentials is the cloud tier of Labelmaster's Dangerous Goods Information System, sold as a one year subscription. The page names regulation updates from PHMSA, IATA for air, IMDG for maritime and AFMAN.
ADR is not named there. Labelmaster sells an ADR dangerous goods list as a separate data subscription, which does not show that DGIS prints an ADR document.

Enterprise scope is set out in the DGIS overview FAQ.

4.Hazcheck Validate, for container shipments checked against the IMDG Code
Hazcheck Validate checks shipments against the IMDG Code and, the page says, the additional 49 CFR and ADR requirements within an intermodal journey. It generates documents such as the DGD and DGN, and connects by REST API or EDI; a separate web service serves IMDG data to booking systems.

5.SAP S/4HANA for product compliance, for classification inside the ERP
SAP's product compliance classifies products as dangerous goods inside S/4HANA and creates dangerous goods documents in SAP Transportation Management. SAP Help documents an ADR classification app (F4465) and an ADR dangerous goods note template.
An SAP Learning lesson names IATA-DGR for aircraft and IMDG for ocean as regulations to apply.

6.BAM Datenbank GEFAHRGUT, the reference alternative to software
This is not shipping software. BAM, the German federal materials institute, publishes condensed regulation data as a search application in German and English and, through its data service, as Excel and CSV files per regulation. Both have been free since 23 July 2025.

In procurement it is an independent check: compare a vendor's entry for one UN number with BAM's.

| Product | Where road is named | Where air or sea is named | Not established |
|---|---|---|---|
| DGOffice | Road module | Air module, sea module | Pricing above the Essential tier |
| DGIS Essentials | Essentials page (PHMSA only) | Essentials page | ADR |
| Hazcheck Validate | Validate page (intermodal only) | Validate page (IMDG) | Air; road only use |

| BAM DGG | Data service | Data service | Not software, by design |
A demo script with your own test loads
Bring three loads from your own records and ask the vendor to process them live, rather than watching a prepared example. A useful set is one ADR road load that falls under the 1,000 point exemption, one mixed load that needs segregation, and one shipment with a sea or air leg.
Ask for the document you would hand over, check the UN number entry against BAM DGG or the official text, and record what was printed, refused or typed by hand. The result describes your scenario, not the product in general.
Procurement worksheet for dangerous goods software
One row per product. Mark each capability evidenced, not established or to confirm, and paste the URL of the page that showed it.
| Field | What to write | Your answer |
|---|---|---|
| Product and page checked | Name, tier, URL, date read | |
| Category | Documentation, validation, enterprise compliance or reference only | |
| ADR road | Evidenced, not established or to confirm, with URL | |
| RID rail and ADN inland waterway | Same marking, with URL | |
| IMDG sea | Same marking; note if only within an intermodal journey | |
| ICAO TI and IATA DGR air | Same marking; note state and operator variations | |
| Documents generated | Each document by name, language and format | |
| Product master data | Own articles, SDS links, who maintains them | |
| Integration | API, EDI messages, named ERP, WMS or TMS connectors | |
| Licence | Modes, users, sites, term, written price | |
| Regulatory updates | Who loads a new edition, when, and transitional rules | |
| Demo results | Your three loads: printed, refused, typed by hand | |
| Open questions | What to confirm, who asks, by when |
Common questions
Which dangerous goods software covers ADR, IMDG and IATA in one system?
Of the products here, DGOffice is the one whose module pages name road under ADR, sea under the IMDG Code and air under ICAO and IATA. Each is a module, so confirm the licence includes every mode you ship.
Does Labelmaster DGIS support ADR?
Not on the Essentials page, which names PHMSA, IATA, IMDG and AFMAN. Labelmaster sells an ADR dangerous goods list separately, so ask in the demo whether DGIS itself prints an ADR document.
Is the BAM Dangerous Goods Database a replacement for shipping software?
No. It is a free reference source with data files for ADR, RID, ADN, IMDG and ICAO, and it creates no documents.
Are Vektor's tools software for creating transport documents?
No. They are free reference tools for ADR road transport, such as a UN number database and a 1,000 point calculator, under CC BY 4.0. They hold no shipment data and print no documents.
Summary
For declarations in several modes, look at DGOffice and confirm each module in the licence; for US, air and sea validation, DGIS Essentials; for container bookings, Hazcheck Validate; inside S/4HANA, SAP. Check facts with our free ADR tools or BAM DGG.
