Free ADR Tools: 6 Compared for UN Lookup, Points and Load Checks (2026)
Free ADR tools each answer one question: what a UN number carries, whether a load is under 1,000 points, whether a packaging fits limited quantities. These six cover those jobs, and every one of them states ADR 2025.
Each entry says where free use ends and what the tool leaves to the ADR text.

Key takeaways
All six state ADR 2025. None presents its lookups as ADR 2027, and the amendments apply from 1 January 2027. (Each tool's own page)
One answer for UN 1203. Our UN number database, BAM DGG-Info, ADR-tool and FreightUtils all give class 3, packing group II and tunnel code D/E. (Each tool's UN 1203 entry)
Free to use is not free to copy. BAM bars data mining without written consent; ADR-tool bars extracting its database. (BAM legal notice; ADR-tool terms)
Read the verification flag. FreightUtils marks its UN 1203 record unverified. (FreightUtils, UN 1203 record)
Where to look first
Pick the tool by the question, check its edition, then confirm the answer in the ADR text. Reference databases are compared on free ADR resources and seven points calculators on ADR 1000 point calculators; this page sorts the tools by task.
| Your question | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Tunnel code for a common bulk substance | Our UN number database (entry 1) |
| Is this packaged load under 1,000 points? | Our calculator (entry 2) |
| What do ADR, RID and IMDG say for one substance? | BAM DGG-Info (entry 3) |
| Which tunnels and mixed loads are ruled out? | ADR-tool (entry 4) |
| Does it fit limited or excepted quantities? | FreightUtils (entry 5) |
| I need a lookup without a signal | The Dangerous Goods app (entry 6) |
| Which points calculator gets the sum right? | Seven compared on the same three loads in ADR 1000 point calculators |

1.Vektor UN number database, for the route fields on common bulk loads
We built this table for the substances that come up most in road tanker and bulk chemical work: 34 UN numbers, each with class, packing group, hazard identification number and tunnel restriction code. The tunnel code sits beside the class because it decides whether a route is open.

For any other UN number, use entry 3, 4 or 5, which carry the full ADR 2025 list.

2.Vektor ADR 1000 point calculator, for the 1.1.3.6 sum with the working shown
Our calculator multiplies each quantity by the factor for its transport category, adds the lines across the vehicle and shows every line, so the total can be checked by hand. You enter the transport category and quantity, not the UN number, so take the category from Table A column 15 first.

It is compared with six other calculators on the same three loads in ADR 1000 point calculators compared.

3.BAM DGG-Info, for one substance under every transport mode
The free search of Germany's Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing condenses the regulations into a short and a detailed record per substance, switchable between ADR, RID, ADN, IMDG, ICAO and the UN Model Regulations. Its advanced search takes a UN, CAS or EC number, a class, a packing group or a hazard identification number.

Older QuickInfo links now land on the DGG-Info start page.

4.ADR-tool, for one UN number with tunnels, mixed loading and points
A free web tool from ANOPS Arkadiusz Neubauer in Poland that gives each ADR 2025 UN number a page: the Table A columns, then the transport category and multiplier, tunnel passage by category, mixed loading restrictions under 7.5.2 and Eurotunnel limits.

5.FreightUtils LQ/EQ checker, for limited and excepted quantities
A free set of freight calculators. Its ADR lookup searches 2,939 ADR 2025 entries by UN number, name or class, and its LQ/EQ checker takes several lines of UN number, quantity and unit and compares each with Table A columns 7a and 7b.

6.Dangerous Goods app, for offline lookup in the cab
A free iPhone app by Jose Ivan Palmer Garcia that, by its App Store listing, holds the ADR 2025 list offline: 2,939 entries searchable by UN number, hazard number or name, 236 ERICards and ten languages.

| Vektor 1000 point calculator | Takes a transport category, not a UN number | Dataset 2026.08.1 |

How to verify the rule behind a tool
The ADR text governs. Each answer rests on a provision: Table A in Chapter 3.2 for the UN entry, column 15 and 1.1.3.6 for points, Chapters 3.4 and 3.5 with columns 7a and 7b for limited and excepted quantities, 8.6 for tunnel codes, 7.5.2 for mixed loading and 5.3.2.3 for the hazard number.
Check that the tool states the edition you work under and picked the right entry where one UN number has several. A tool does not decide whether a shipment complies; the consignor does, usually with a dangerous goods safety adviser.
The ADR text is on UNECE's ADR 2025 page; language versions are listed on our free ADR resources page.
What changes on 1 January 2027
None of the six presents its lookups as ADR 2027 yet. One change reaches the points sum: from 1 January 2027 note a in 1.1.3.6.3 is deleted, so UN 1005, UN 1017 and seven explosives count like any category 1 entry, with the old note usable until 31 December 2030.
For Table A changes one UN number at a time, use our ADR 2027 Table A comparison; the sources for the amendments are compared in ADR 2027 amendments: 6 sources compared.

Common questions
Is there a free tool that covers the whole of ADR Table A?
Yes. BAM DGG-Info, ADR-tool and FreightUtils search the full ADR 2025 list, and the Dangerous Goods app says it holds 2,939 entries offline. Our table covers 34.
Can I copy data out of these tools?
On each tool's terms. Ours are CC BY 4.0; BAM's data is dl-de/by-2-0, but mining needs its written consent; ADR-tool forbids extracting its database; FreightUtils names no open licence.
Does a tool's answer make my load compliant?
No. A tool reads Table A for you; classification and the decision to ship stay with the consignor. FreightUtils and our own pages both send you back to the ADR text.
Have these tools been updated for ADR 2027?
Not yet; all six state ADR 2025. For the 2027 Table A changes, use our ADR 2027 Table A comparison, and recheck each tool after 1 January 2027.
Summary
Route fields: our UN number database. Points: our calculator. Every mode: BAM DGG-Info.
Tunnels and mixed loading: ADR-tool. LQ and EQ: FreightUtils.
Offline: the Dangerous Goods app. All six state ADR 2025; the ADR text decides.
